BRIGHOUSE has some of the best parks in Calderdale, its official.

Three Brighouse parks, Wellholme Park, Shibden Estate and Bailiff Bridge Memorial Park, have been awarded the Green Flag award.

The winners were announced on Monday and seven parks throughout the borough reached the national standard which recognises well-managed, high quality areas.

The awards are the result of a year of ongoing hard work from Safer Cleaner Greener Teams across the Borough along with the continued commitment from dedicated local community groups and working partners.

Team leader for the Lower Valley’s Safer, Cleaner, Greener team, Tony Price, said they were delighted to have been awarded the Green Flag status. “Lots of hard work goes into maintaining the sites to this standard not only from our side but from the local community. It is not just one or the other but the partnership that gets us to where we are today.”

All award-winning sites now have the chance to receive a further award from the Green Flag Plus Partnership, the People’s Choice Award, voted for by the public through the Green Flag Award website.
