Halifax and District Rail Action Group has rightly slammed plans which could see recycled London underground trains being used on the Calder Valley Line, writes Coun Ann Martin (Labour, Brighouse).

Whilst these potential replacements might be given a new lick of paint, they would actually be even slower than the ageing Pacer trains which the Government has apparently promised to replace.

Labour’s Shadow Transport Minister Michael Dugher was in Brighouse last week.

As a Northern MP himself, he’s as angry as we are about the plan – more evidence of how transport investment gets poured into London and the south.

We’re not going to be content with their cast off trains.
