The Rastrick Big Local Partnership that will spend £1million in the community is officially up and running.

At a meeting of the steering group, documents were signed to change the group into the partnership and will now construct the Big Local Plan which, when completed in August 2013, will release the £1million.

Jason Middleton was elected chairman, Max Lambert treasurer and Ivor Davies appointed secretary.

Rastrick Big Local are also gearing up for the Community Projects Fund Grant Awards on March 25 at Carr Green Primary School, Rastrick, at 7pm.

The event, open to all the residents and those with connections in the area, will celebrate the group’s first birthday and give an update on progress.

The Mayor of Calderdale Councillor John Hardy will be presenting a share of £13,000 to the successful businesses of groups who applied.

Made up of Darren Burton, Peter Edwards, Mags Bryson, Jason Middleton and Ivor Davies, the awards panel had to chose from 21 applications.

As part of Rastrick Big Local, the group was awarded £8,000 from the Local Trust, known as the Getting Started fund, and an additional £5,000 from the Community Foundation For Calderdale.
