The New Inn at Bradford Road, Brighouse, has a new name, a new look and a bright new future.
Manager Peter Thompson is settling in to the renamed pub, now known as The Beck. The pub re-opened last month after being taken over by Partners Brewery of Dewsbury, who have around 10 pubs under their belt.
The former New Inn has undergone a thorough refurbishment with new stone floors, brighter walls, new furniture and toilets.
On the bar, Peter says that the pub is very much into real ale and they will have seven different ales on at all times as well as one real cider.
“The ales are from Partners Brewery but we also have guest ales at times,” said Peter. “We also have Amstel, Kronenburg and Fosters on the bar but the real ales are more popular and the regulars have said they enjoy having such a good selection.”
Peter, who is originally from Darlington, moved to Leeds about six years ago and has been running pubs all over the region but wanted to find a ‘home’ and stamp his own mark on it.
The pool table has been removed but the darts board has been reinstated and the pub is keen to join the Bradford League. Peter has taken the decision not to have a television in the pub - a move welcomed by the regulars who enjoy the chance to suit and chat over a pint - but he is hoping to feature live music on a regular basis.
This weekend The Beck is holding a charity event for Brain Tumour Research and Support with entertainment from the Keystone Acoustics followed by Roger Davis.
There will also be a raffle and Peter will give 50 pence from every pint of real ale sold to charity. On Sunday from 2pm there will be a charity darts tournament.
The pub is open from 5pm Monday to Thursday and Fridays from 3pm.
