Proposals to transform a vandalised skate park in Brighouse are currently under consideration by Calderdale Council’s planning committee.

The £100,000 project will see the skate park in Wellholme Park rebuilt after it was badly damaged in an arson attack earlier this year.

Plans submitted have stated the existing facilities are reaching the end of their working life, with a number of the items having been removed.

The proposals include creating a new facility constructed of concrete and will be of bespoke design with features being selected by youths who use the park.

Skateboarders and bike riders have experienced problems with other park users crossing the skate facilities, but to reduce the chances of accidents and injuries occurring a timber fence will be erected. It will also double up as a graffiti board.

The planning meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 7, at Halifax Town Hall.
