Local councillors are working to set up a ‘friends group’ for Lane Head Park that will help to protect and improve the area for local residents.

Coun Scott Benton and Coun Howard Blagbrough are keen to establish a ‘Friends of Lane Head Park’ group that will allow local residents to work alongside Calderdale Council to improve the facilities at the popular Brighouse Park.

Coun Benton said: “Lane Head Park is well used by families across the Brighouse area. We want to work with local residents and the council to make the small improvements to the park that people would like to see. Fantastic new play facilities were constructed only a few years ago and residents are telling us that they would like to see other improvements”, said Coun Benton.

“Setting up a ‘friends group’ for the park will allow us to make bids for extra funding that could be used to improve the facilities further.”

Coun Blagbrough added: “It will also ensure that local people have a say in improving this great facility.”
