DJ and actor Jeff Hordley - best known as Cain Dingle in the long-running TV soap Emmerdale - will make his Calderdale debut when he spins the discs at the Ritz Ballroom, Brighouse, on Friday, July 5.
The Funk and Soul Club, being promoted by Jordan McHale of Hartshead - who also works on the set of Emmerdale - will bring the best in funk, soul, latin, jazz and blues to the Ritz dance floor.
Also providing the sounds will be the Bugalu Foundation, a nine-piece northern latin soul band, who featured recently on the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show on BBC 6 Music.
Jeff Hordley, who has been DJ-ing for many years in clubs in Leeds and Manchester, will present a 90-minute set of floor-fillers. A keen Stone Roses fan, he has presented shows on radio stations in Oldham and Manchester.
Jordan said: “The Ritz has a great reputation for music - especially northern soul and Tamla Motown - but we hope the night with the Bugalu Foundation and Jeff will bring in a younger audience.
“There will be some classic records as well as more diverse, unusual sounds that I think people will find interesting.
“This is the first time we have tried something like this at the Ritz but if it goes down well it could be the first of many.”
The music will starts at 8.30pm and tickets are £8.50 in advance and £10 on the night. For more information contact 01484 720058.
