A major operation is underway in Elland to prevent homes from flooding.

Yorkshire Water has been on site most of the afternoon pumping out water from the area which was hit by the floods two weeks ago.

The road was closed after the river burst its banks. Many homes were affected by the flood and workmen have been trying to fix the problems since then.

Various roads throughout the borough have been closed due to today’s floods including Croft Street in Brighouse.

Problems have been reported at Smith House Lane at the bottom of Stoney Lane, and Clough Lane, Rastrick.

Staff at ROKT climbing gym is already putting down sandbags to prevent any further damage.

The gym was affected by the downpours yesterday after the roof above reception fell through. The gym had to close early.
