STONEY Lane residents will get the chance to meet with members of Pennine Housing to discuss the future of the parade of shops.

It isunderstood that Pennine wants to knock down the row of shops, which includes Patel’s Convenience Store, on the Lightcliffe estate.

The parade of shops is run down and most of them have been empty for around 11 years.

But more than 500 residents have signed a petition set up by shop owner Shila Patel, to save her business. The petition will be handed to Calderdale Council later this month by Councillor Graham Hall (Con, Hipp/Light) who is supporting the campaign.

They say the shop is the only one within the area and is a vital service during the winter months. The meeting will be held at Laburnum Grove Centre in Lightcliffe, on April 23. It starts at 6.30pm and all are welcome to attend.
