A ‘Smart Attack of Art’ is coming to Brighouse.

CBeebies TV presenter Mike Amatt is putting the ‘Art’ into cARToon and bringing his zany - wacky but very artful show for a welcome return to Brighouse by staging it at Brighouse Civic Hall on Thursday February 16 at 2pm.

“The show has all the elements of those TV art shows and much more,” said Mike who created the cartoon characters for his first TV series Mop and Smiff back in the 80s.

“I like to keep the show up to day. For example, these days children love to learn how to draw Spongebob or the Simpsons and Wallace and Gromit and Buzz Lightyear with Woody etc. But I also keep some of the old favourites in like Micky Mouse.

“For 2012 I’m introducing a dinosaur item. There are lots of lollipops to give away and at one point I have six youngsters on stage playing rock guitars. I love giving children of all ages the chance to join me on stage.”

As well as doing his stage shows, Mike also visits schools with various performances and workshops for creative writing.

To meet Mike and to learn some drawing or painting skills, pop along to the Civic Hall in Bradford Road. Doors open at 1.30pm. All seats are £6.50 and tickets are available from Just Books in Commercial Street. People can pay at the door.
