A CHARITABLE mother has helped keep the momentum building for a parent group as they continue to raise money for their school.

Lorraine McIntyre, whose daughter Amelia attends Highbury School, Rastrick, was a member of the Lloyds Banking Human Resources Reward team who won an industry award last year.

As part of their prize they were told they could choose three charities to donate to.

She nominated Friends of Highbury who have now received a £4,000 donation to help them towards their £250,000 target to make repairs and upgrade the school’s 30-year-old hydrotherapy pool.

Headteacher Pam Sellers said they were delighted with the donation. “Every penny counts and we’re very grateful to Lorraine and her team,” she said.

Chair of the group Donna Waterhouse said it was great that another donation has been made and the pupils at the school were also getting involved with the fundraising. “The school has completed a sponsored swim using the pool at Highbury and the older children using the Brighouse pool.

“They have raised £1307.46 which is fantastic,” she said. “I know that some of the children who use wheelchairs actually did 30 to 40 lengths which I feel is inspirational.”

The school’s pool is used by the children and plays an important role in the community.
