Calderdale will echo to the sound of stomping feet for this year’s Overgate Hospice Midnight Walk on Saturday.

Anyone interested can register on the website up to Friday for one of two walks - one of 13 miles and the other of six miles route. Walkers will also be able to register on the night.

The walk is open to everyone and they are hoping to reach a target of 1,000 participants. Around 700 walkers have already signed up and organisers are keen to attract more than last year’s figures of 850.

Among the walkers will be Debbie Story of Sleigh and Story in Brighouse, who is taking part in the walk as one of three challenges to raise money for three different charities.

Faye Henderson, who is organising the event, said: “Calderdale will echo to the sound of stomping of feet as the supporters walk the 13 miles route through the moonlit streets of Calderdale. This event is a great way for people to take part in a fun challenge while raising money for a much needed charity.

“Thank you to everyone who has signed up for the Overgate Hospice Midnight Walk, but it’s not too late to enter, you can join us on the night at North Bridge Leisure Centre, registration is open from 10.30pm and it is £17 to registered on the night. Please come along and help us make it the biggest Overgate Hospice Midnight Walk Ever.”

The route has been drawn up by the fundraising team who were spotted at numerous locations throughout the district last week. It is kept secret until the night.

Entry is £12 before the event which includes a t-shirt, medal, refreshments on route and a goody bag.
