NORWOOD Green actor Matthew Wolfenden has become the early favourite to win Dancing On Ice 2012.
The Emmerdale hunk has been tipped by bookies Paddy Power at 10/3 to win with soap rivals Jennifer Ellison and Jorgie Porter in hot pursuit.
The 30-year-old says he is loving taking part in the show after his fiancee and co-star Charley pushed him in the right direction because she is a huge fan of the show.
Matthew is one to keep an eye on when he takes to the ice this Sunday as he is no stranger to busting some moves, having trained as a dancer and gymnast.
But the former Brighouse High School student is finding the training for the ITV show tiring. “I’m training in the morning or the evening depending on which way I can fit it around my filming,” he said.
But Matthew is willing to pull out all the stops in order to shine on the show in order to following in the footsteps of his former co-star Hayley Tamaddon who was victorious last year.
He is already working on the jumps and lifts in a bid to give him an edge and claims being a dancer does seem to be helping him with his upper body but that it is hindering him a little with his footwork.
Matthew used to live in Norwood Green with his parents Ian and Janet.
Other stars taking part include Olympic medal winner Chemmy Alcott, Sugababes star Heidi Range and Eastenders star Laila Morse who has is tipped to be one of the first to leave with odds to win stacked against he at 66/1.
