Police are appealing for witnesses after a female pedestrian died following a collision in Thongsbridge yesterday (Friday, August 29).

At around 6.15pm, the pedestrian was walking along Springwood Road when she has come off the pavement and in to the road.

As a result she has been in collision with a Nissan Cabstar tipper van.

The pedestrian died at the scene. She has not yet been formally identified but is believed to be an 18-year-old woman from the local area.

Detective Sergeant Carole Greaves, of West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: “As part of our enquiries we are keen to speak to anyone who either witnessed the collision itself or who believes they saw the vehicle or pedestrian involved immediately prior to the collision. Any information should be passed to myself in the Major Collision Enquiry Team via 101.”
