A SUCCESSFUL sponsored walk has expanded to include Brighouse.

The ‘Rotary Navigation’ will be along the Calder and Hebble Navigation and has now been extended from The Navigation Inn at Horbury to The Wharfe at Sowerby Bridge, a total of 19-miles.

There will be start and finish points options along the way at Dewsbury, Mirfield, Brighouse, Elland and Sowerby Bridge - each leg about four miles long.

The second annual walk being held on April 1 will benefit four hospices Overgate Hospice in Elland, West Yorkshire Forget-Me-Not Childrens Hospice, at Brackenhall, near Brighouse, Kirkwood Hospice in Huddersfield and Wakefield Hospice.

Walkers will be asked to nominate their start and finish places will be manned from 8.30am until 4.30pm and free transport will be arranged to get them to their start points providing they register before March 23.

The cost is incorporated in the walk registration fee of £5 per person (£12 family registration - two adults and up to four children under 16-years).

The walk is a new fund-raising joint venture organised by the Rotary Clubs of Horbury and Ossett Phoenix, Mirfield, Dewsbury, Brighouse, Elland and Sowerby Bridge.

President of the Brighouse club, Jenny Redfearn, said: “After the success of last years walk we saw the opportunity to expand and are very hopeful that by involving additional clubs we can raise even more money for the hospices which need every penny they can get to continue the tremendous work.”
