Snow expected to get heavier
Forecasters say the snow is expected to become heavier from noon.
Snow began to fall this morning and is settling in Brighouse.
With a yellow weather warning for this afternoon, residents are being urged to be careful by police.
Much of the UK including northern England is expected to be covered with a blanket of snow which in some places could be 15cm deep.
But rain is forecast for later on today. In Calderdale, forecasts say the heavy snow should turn to sleet by 6pm.
On Twitter the Lower Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team says: “The snow is falling again. Please take care, problems already being caused on the roads throughout Lower Valley.”
@Stobart_Tart says: “No one in #Brighouse attempt Smith House Lane.”
