ONE of Brighouse’s historic buildings has been transformed and is ready to take on a new direction.

The former Brighouse Town Hall, in Thornton Square, is set for its official opening on Monday as the new Town Hall Dental clinic.

The grade Two listed building built in 1887 has undergone months of renovation both on the outside and internally.

Dr Imran Rangzeb will be running the clinic and said he has always had a special desire to come and work in Brighouse.

“My father Mohammed Rangzeb worked in the town for 15 years and he always said to me that Brighouse was such a good place to work,” said Dr Rangzeb.

“We’re very excited to open our brand new practice and I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has made this possible.

“Building the practice in the old Brighouse Town Hall has meant a great investment for our patients and we look forward to the benefits it will bring them.”

“The new facilities and extra surgery space will reduce waiting times and give patients a wider choice of treatments and appointment slots to suit them.

“It also gives us the potential to expand the team in the future, and potentially create new jobs in the area.”

The practice team, previously based in at the Smile dentist surgery in Keighley Road, Halifax, have relocated to the old Brighouse Town Hall into state-of-the-art premises.

As well as maintaining many of the Grade Two listed building’s original features, the new practice offers comfortable and spacious patient facilities, five surgeries, a purpose-built decontamination room that will revolutionise hygiene and infection control for patients, and full disabled access.

“We wanted to keep as much as the original features as possible as the building is at the heart of the town,” added Dr Rangzeb. “We are also hoping to make use of the large function room in the future for the community to use for events”

The former North Halifax Grammar school pupil qualified from the University of Manchester in 2002, has completed numerous advanced courses in cosmetic and restorative dentistry.

Calderdale Council made the decision in 2010 that the town hall was surplus to requirements. It was later sold at auction for £136,000 at Elland Road football ground, Leeds.
