Shannen: A friend to so many

AN emotional outpouring of grief for accident victim Shannen Harker is contained in a website set up as a tribute by her friends.

Shannen, aged 15, died with her father, Stephen Rushworth, in an horrific accident last Wednesday night in Birkby Lane, Bailiff Bridge. Shannen and Stephen, who was 37, died instantly when their car was involved in a collision with two other vehicles. A fire officer who attended the scene said it was the worst accident he had dealt with in 30 years.

Stephen and Shannen were driving from Cleckheaton to visit Stephen's parents, Jeffrey and Elizabeth, of Whinney Hill Park, Brighouse, when their VW Golf was in collision with a van travelling in the opposite direction and a Peugeot car.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned in Halifax.

As news of the tragedy spread, friends of Shannen set up a tribute on the 'bebo' website which is especially popular with teenagers. Within days there had been more than 1,300 visits to the site. http://www.bebo.com/RIPgOrgeous-angel

Tributes have also been posted on the 'gone too sonn' website. http://gonetoosoon.co.uk/
