The Rastrick community got into the Christmas spirit as Rastrick High School held their Festive Tea Party.
Eighty members attended the festivities at the Field Top Road school for the annual Christmas celebration for local senior citizens.
Guests were welcomed with a glass of sherry or fruit juice by a group of Year 12 students who took a lead role in coordinating the event as part of their coursework.
It was then ‘eyes down’ for a few games of bingo whilst Year 12 and 13 BTEC Level 3 Hospitality students created a feast of seasonal fayre before the excitement of the raffle drew proceedings to a close.
Students had to create the menu, worked out the ingredients and spent a whole day in the kitchen with chopping boards and kitchen knives in hand, preparing the food before cooking and serving it up on platters.
Louise Benn, communcations and development manager said: “Our special guests each received a party bag and gift to take home and overall everyone involved had a super afternoon.
“It was such a nice sight to see people of each side of a generational divide come together and enjoy themselves.
“Well done to all the students for organising such a super event.”
