A renowned singer-songwriter has collaborated with a band to produce a special song to celebrate the start of the Tour de France.

Roger Davies, of Brighouse, has collaborated with The Durbervilles to produce “The Grand Depart”, a brand new limited edition CD single which has been chosen as the official song for TourFest, a three-day event taking place at Lockwood Park Huddersfield, to coincide with the Tour de France weekend when the big race comes to Yorkshire in July.

The single is also helping to raise funds for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

Roger said: “It’s not everyday that the Tour de France passes through your own backyard so I wanted to make a positive contribution by trying to sum up the feeling of excitement and anticipation that surrounds the event.

“The Durbervilles, a five-piece band, have done a great job on the recording. I’m proud of the result.

“I think ‘The Grand Depart’ is my most dynamic and satisfying studio recording so far.”

TourFest organiser Donal O’Driscoll said: “This is a fantastic song. It captures the excitement and anticipation beautifully.”

The single can be heard on Soundcloud and can be bought from any of the Forget Me Not outlets and on iTunes.
