A rock ‘n’ roll night at Brighouse Civic Hall raised more than £3,500 for two charities.

Organised by Wendy Carson and Dave Quarmby, more than 200 people danced the night away to music by The Rhythm Kings, Wayne Gee and DJ Macka, raising a total of £3,532 for Overgate Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support.

It was held in memory of Wendy’s friend Linda Parkin, who died last year after suffering from cancer.

As Linda was supported by Macmillan nurses and Overgate, the money raised will be shared between the two charities.

Wendy said: “It far exceeded any expectations we had and both Dave and I want to say a massive ’thank you‘ to everyone who contributed and helped make our night such a big success.”
