Pupils from Hipperholme Grammar Junior School perform their harvest service

PUPILS, teachers and families gathered at Christ Church, Hipperholme, for their harvest thanksgiving concert and service.

The Hipperholme Grammar Junior School pupils brought in a bounty of gifts of food and every child participated in the concert demonstrating their drama and musical talents.

The service was opened with a rendition of Food Glorious Food followed by musical contributions from all school years - even sung in French.

Between the songs, the children performed a play written by their teachers to illustrate that while the pizza they order may take just five minutes to deliver from the pizzeria around the corner, the ingredients to make it have actually travelled hundreds of miles.

A collection at the end of the service raised £105 for charity and the children’s food parcels are to be donated to the Ebenezer Drop-In Centre in Halifax.
