Children have been having a cracking time across Brighouse, taking part in a range of egg-themed activities for the Easter holidays.

Children at St Chad’s Primary School, Hove Edge, joined in the seasonal sessions, which included designing buildings using Easter eggs, an Easter music concert and an egg race in the school playground.

There was also an Easter RE day and a service at church.

A school spokesperson said: “It’s all about making learning about Easter more fun.”

The William Henry Smith School, Rastrick, held their annual Easter Fair which was attended by family and guests.

The Mayor of Calderdale Ann Martin opened proceedings with the cracking of a large Easter egg.

There were a variety of stalls and activities for the crowds to take in as the sun shone for everyone to have a brilliant time.

At Clifton Village Nursery, youngsters were read traditional stories from the Christian faith and had the opportunity to engage in many exciting activities to mark the occasion.

They sang special Easter songs, made chocolate nests in a baking activity, painted pictures of chicks, made Easter cards, explored pattern and symmetry when designing their own Easter egg pictures and whole families had the opportunity to enter into a ‘decorating an egg’ competition.

Prizes were awarded to four winners in total and all those who entered received a special certificate.
