Progress on skate park

WORK to secure bids for a new skateboard park is still ongoing.

Members of the 3Bs, working alongside the Friends of Wellholme Park, have been applying for a wide range of bids to carry out improvements at the popular park in Bradford Road.

Since the skate park was opened in Wellholme 12 years ago it has proved a popular attraction and competitions have been held bringing in people from a wide area.

Councillor Colin Stout (Ind, Brighouse) said: “We are still awaiting replies about some of the grants but as soon as we know we can start work on improving it which I think will be very much appreciated.

“We will be re-establishing the graffiti wall rather than people using the pod. I would like the pod seating area moving to somewhere else. The way it is at the moment people cannot see into it and it is creating a bit of fear late at night.

“The resurfacing of the play area down there some of it is in an inadequate condition where it has been lifted. So we are looking to different funding available to deal with that.”
