Peacocks staff lose jobs

NINE shop staff have lost their jobs following the sale of fashion retailer Peacocks.

The store in King Street, Brighouse, is one of 224 closures announced by administrators KPMG.

The business has been bought by Edinburgh Woollen Mill but it is only retaining 388 stores, 57 concessions, three distribution centres and the head office in Wales.

“Unfortunately, the stores not included in the sale have ceased trading with immediate effect resulting in 3,100 redundancies,” said KPMG.

Peacocks went into administration last month having failed to restructure part of its £750 million debt.
