Nathan: Such a great zest for living
A MUCH-loved Brighouse teenager with a great zest for living has died aged 13.
Family and friends of football fan Nathan Jones are struggling to come to terms with their loss.
The Brighouse High School student who was due to go to Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, next week for heart surgery died at his home in Smithy Carr Lane, Brighouse.
He was looking forward to going to Crow Nest Park golf club at Hove Edge to caddy for his dad Steven and older brother Ryan, 16, when he was taken ill, last Saturday morning.
The flag at Crow Nest golf club, where Mr Jones is a member, is flying at half-mast in Nathan's memory.
Nathan was diagnosed with the rare Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) when he was two. The condition affected his mobility. People with EDS have a defect in their connective tissue which supports many parts of the body. Nathan faced numerous operations but his parents were determined he would lead as normal a life as possible.
(Full tribute to Nathan in the Brighouse Echo 17/07/2008)The family, including Nathan's grandmother Mary Ramsden, is asking for donations to Sheffield Children's Hospital in his memory.
