OLD Brodleians Rugby Union Club will be holding a minute’s silence in memory of student Adam Dixon who has died aged 18.
The former Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School pupil used to play for the Hipperholme team and on Saturday at 2.15pm before the club’s match with Middlesbrough at Woodhead, the team will be hold the minute’s slince as a tribute.
Leeds Metropolitan student Adam, of Shelf, died at his halls of residence at Beckett Park, Leeds on Sunday.
He was a singer for rock and metal band Anonymous.
In a statement earlier this week, his parents, Dave and Tracey, said: “Adam was a wonderful son and brother, who we were extremely proud of.
“He touched the lives of all the people he met. We are absolutely devastated by our tragic loss, and would ask that we be left to grieve in peace at this extremely sad time.”
Anthony Smith, head teacher at Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School said: “Adam brought so much to the school during his time with us. Adam will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasue of knowing him and working with him, but he will never, ever, be forgotten.”
Tributes have also been left on Twitter and blogging website Tumblr.
Leeds Metropolitan University, in a statement, said: “Adam, who was studying a multimedia technology course, was a very popular student and will be greatly missed.”
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police they were called by paramedics at 5.45am on Sunday.
They said Adam’s death was not being treated as suspicious.
A 22-year-old man from Headingley who had been arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs has been released on police bail.
