Marathon challenge inspired by a friend

A WOMAN will be pounding the streets of London on Sunday in support of a friend with cardiomyopathy, a rare heart disease.

Rebecca Langdon will run the London Marathon to raise money for the Cardiomyopathy Association, which offers information and support to families affected by the condition that kills four young people every week in the UK. Rebecca, a 29-year-old res-earch scientist, hopes to raise 2,000.

Her friend of 19 years, Adele Biggins, formerly of Brighouse, was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy shortly after her sister, Lisa Freeman, 30, died suddenly from the condition in October 2005. Lisa was a nursery nurse at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Brighouse.
