A Lightcliffe cricketer has been dismissed by Yorkshire County Cricket Club over what it describes as “a number of unprofessional actions”.

Oliver Robinson, 20, who also plays for Lightcliffe Cricket Club in the JCT600 Bradford Cricket League, had his county contract terminated earlier this week.

In a brief statement, Yorkshire County Cricket Club said Robinson’s contract had been ”terminated with immediate effect due to a number of unprofessional actions”.

Ahead of the 2014 season the all-rounder, from Margate in Kent, signed junior professional terms with Yorkshire CCC after showing his potential last season in both the second XI and three first team games in the latter stages of the Yorkshire Bank 40 overs competition.

A spokesman for Lightcliffe CC expressed his shock at the announcement.

He said: “Issues relating to Oliver Robinson’s contract with Yorkshire are internal matters for Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

“Oliver is selected for our first XI game on Saturday at Bingley, where we hope he contributes with bat and ball, helping us to an important win.”
