Children got top experience the shopping delights in Brighouse as part of special nursery trip.

Youngsters at Clifton Village Nursery children had transformed their play area into supermarket but to help bring the experience alive, staff took them to shops to help children make further connections and explore roles in the wider community.

Pre-school children travelled by bus with nursery staff and walked through the town centre visiting shops along the way such as a flower shop, a fruit and vegetable store, a book shop and a pet shop.

Michelle Tankard, Nursery Manager said as part of their day they looked at signs around them and talked about road safety as they went to Tesco supermarket.

“The children took their own money and a shopping list of two items. We talked about the value of items, how to pay, receipts and receiving change. We then enjoyed a well-earned trip to the café.

“This was a very valuable trip as the children experienced a great deal of learning opportunities.”
