A YOUNG entrepreneur has bagged £1,000 after winning a competition.

Jacob Hill, 20, who came up with the idea of The Lazy Camper was crowned the winner of the Shell LiveWIRE competition and now stands a chance of winning £10,000 in the idea of the year award.

The Shell LiveWIRE Grand Ideas Award, each month, award up to four prizes of £1,000 to young entrepreneurs with the most innovative business ideas.

The Lazy Camper rallied votes of friends, family and supporters putting them in fifth place. The judge’s scores were then added up sending them to first place and being one of the four ideas awarded the much-welcomed cash.

Jacob said: “I am overjoyed to have won this month, it took some trying but we finally got there.

“I will keep encouraging course mates and other young entrepreneurs to enter the awards also.

“The cash flow of a business is it’s lifeline and without awards and perks like this, I know this year would have been a lot harder.

“I just hope this is how the year will continue. It’s a great way to get things moving in 2013.”

Jacob now stands a chance of winning £10,000 plus extra support if he is crowned winner of ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award’. The Lazy Camper is the complete outdoors kit with everything needed in one bag.

Over the last 12 months Jacob has featured on the BBC3 show, Be Your Own Boss with Richard Reed and has pitched his idea to Sir Richard Branson at his house in Oxford and actually received investment from the Virgin Group tycoon.

The company is now working with more than 33 per cent of the festival market to provide customers with the option of collecting their Lazy Campers when they arrive at the festivals.
