Happy Valley up for SIX prestigious television awards

Happy Valley has been nominated for six prestigious gongs at this year's Royal Television Society Yorkshire Awards.

The gritty police drama, both set and filmed in Calderdale, has been shortlisted in the Filmed in Yorkshire and Drama categories.

Sally Wainwright is up for awards in the Writer and Director categories, Sarah Lancashire, who plays Catherine Cawood in the series, has been nominated in the Actor category, and Rhys Connah, who plays Catherine’s grandson Ryan, has been nominated in One to Watch.

The awards will take place at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on Friday, June 25. Presenting the awards will be Emmerdale actors Mark Charnock (Marlon Dingle) and Laura Norton (Kerry Wyatt).

The RTS Yorkshire Awards celebrate excellence in production across all platforms. From traditional television output such as documentary and drama, through to news and current affairs, and the latest cutting edge formats, animation and multi-platform.
