A corner of Hipperholme has been transported back to the 1920’s with the opening of Wayne Anthony Executive Barbers on Halifax Road.

The shop which also has a 1920’s coffee bar was officially opened by comedian Lee Roberts and actor George Newton.

Owner Wayne Anthony said he has always had a passion for the era. “I wanted to come up with something that was unique and there is nothing like this,” he said. “With programmes like Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge, it is proving to be very popular especially with younger people who are blown with it and have come in thinking ‘wow this is cool.”

The shop also houses authentic furniture and decorations as well as staff wearing traditional pin stripe clothes, bow ties and pocket watches.
