Disruptions start as snow continues to fall

DISRUPTIONS are being reported and an amber warning for snow has been issued by the Met Office for Calderdale.

Heavy snow has started to fall as a band moves from the east across Yorkshire through the day.

Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School has now closed its doors.

Difficult driving conditions are being reported on the M62 and many people have taken to Twitter to post their experiences.

Brighouse 247 said: “Big snow flakes continuing to fall here in Brighouse - showing signs of starting to stick on roads and pavements. Next hour key.”

A light covering of snow fell across the district last night and forecasters have warned untreated surfaces could be icy.

Accumulations of up to 10cm are expected, possibly to 15cm over high ground.

No schools are reported to be closed yet because of the snow.
