Cool for Cats

FANS of the Jools Holland Rhythm n' Blues Orchestra are in for a real treat when the 19-piece big band The Cat Pack takes over the Ritz Ballroom, Brighouse, on September 4.

The band will lead the Ritz's stalwart foot-tappers on a high-octane journey through many of the big band styles from rhythm 'n' blues to boogie-woogie, jive and swing.

The Cat Pack have performed to sell-out crowds at many jive and swing events around the UK including the Swing Cats Ball in Stockport and Colne Rhythm n' Blues Festival and have released two albums on Raucous records.

The band has also shared the stage with Joe Longthorne, Amy Winehouse, Corrine Bailey Rae, Georgie Fame, Roy Wood and the Syd Lawrence Orchestra and in 2002 won an award at the BBC Big Band competition.

Tickets at 10 are now available for the Ritz gig which will see the Cat Pack serving up the sounds of Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dinah Washington, Peggy Lee, Harry Connick Jnr and many others. The music starts at 8pm on September 4. For more information contact 01484 720058.
