A charity set up by Calder Valley MP Craig Whittaker is entering its third year.
Together for Looked-after Children (TLC) will be building on the success of the past two years of events and fund-raising.
The aim is to enhance the achievements of looked after children in Calderdale.
The funds raised so far, from events such as the Titanic history evening and the Big Band Concert have been put to good use.
Working through Calderdale, seven and eight-year-old looked after children have received personally addressed parcels of books for six months, through the Letter Box Scheme.
Younger children have been given Busy Boxes to develop art and craft skills.
For older children and young people, they were awarded a fund for a local calderdale School for extra tuition for GCSE English, maths and science.
An Enrichment Fund to help support further and higher education has also been set up and TLC is encouraging applications with the help of the Foster Carers’ Association.
Mr Whittaker said: “We are so grateful to our sponsors, friends of TLC, schools and organisations that have chosen us as their charity. Calderdale and our band of volunteers all have meant that TLC has been able to make a difference.”
Their challange for 2013 is to have an even greater impact in supporting the excellent work of Calderdale for looked after children.
