The new edition of Wildside – the walks and events programme produced by Calderdale Council will kick off their season of events in Brighouse.

The guide brings together all the walks and events run by the Council’s Countryside and Woodland team with activities for all the family to educational events and guided walks.

Kicking off this year’s programme is a walk led by Steve Blacksmith from Halifax Scientific Society, who is going to be hunting for frog spawn on a walk around Cromwell Bottom Local Nature Reserve on March 30 starting at 10.30am.

Other highlights include a return visit to Cragg Vale brewery led by Mytholmroyd Walkers Action and two chances to learn how to understand maps and navigate using a compass at Ogden Water.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Coun Steve Sweeney, said: “There’s an exciting timetable of events coming up, so you can plan ahead for some great outdoor activities in the coming months. We’re lucky enough to have some lovely countryside around Calderdale, and in this guide you’ll find inspirational ideas to go out, explore and enjoy it.”
