A group of helpers will be giving Carr Green Cemetery in Rastrick a spring clean.

Councillor Christine Beal said a group of residents had contacted her over a number of issues including its upkeep.

“I brought together a group of them with officers who look after the cemeteries with a view to whether a ‘friends group’ or similar would be a good idea.

“It was decided that the best plan would be to have an informal group of helpers who would assist the teams with the upkeep from time to time,.

“We had a great start was with the first clean up session in clearing litter, branches, leaves and debris.

“Many thanks to volunteers who came along and the council team.”

The next sessions will be held on April 6 and April 12, from 10am until 3pm.

Everyone who can help for any amount of time is welcome. Tools are available or volunteers can bring their own.
