DANCERS were in full swing as they raised around £1,600 for a children’s hospice.

The Backstep Boogie Club gave a demonstration as people from all over Yorkshire and Lancashire joined them on the dance floor at Rastrick Bowling Club.

It was organised by the Fixby Friends group of the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

Diane Dutton, chair of the group, said it was absolutely fabulous. “The clothes people came in were incredible and we made £1,650 which we are really pleased with.

“We had about 150 guests and the atmosphere was electric. Sometimes it can take a while for people to get on the dancefloor at these kinds of events but as soon as the music started the dancers were on the floor. It was mostly people that don’t normally come to our Forget Me Not events so it was nice to see a few new faces. We are very grateful to Rastrick Bowling Club who were excellent.”

Anyone who is interested in joining the group can contact Diane on 07765257663. “It is a lovely group and everyone helps to organise the events. They are all fantastic.”
