RESIDENTS are coming out in force as the Rastrick Big Local project gathers momentum.

Volunteers and the working committee running the scheme have begun their roadshow across the area.

In February, Rastrick was awarded £1 million from the Big Local/Big Lottery fund as it was felt the area had been overlooked in the past and is known to be in need of extra help for community projects.

Now, two more group meetings have been organised to help with developing the project.

Jason Middleton, chair of the Rastrick Big Local committee said there had been a fantastic response and now two different groups were needed.

“We all agreed at our last meeting that it’s impractical to have detailed discussions and make decisions with such large numbers of people. So it would be best to form a smaller ‘steering’ group which would meet more regularly.

“The group would aim to keep everyone else informed of their decisions and take on board feedback from the wider group as much as possible.”

A Reference Group will be the wider group and is aimed at anyone who lives, or has an interest in the Rastrick Big Local area and who wants to be in it. People can have as much input into the group as they like at any time without commitment.

The Steering Group is meeting on July 18 at 7pm at Rastrick Bowling Club and the Reference Group on August 15 at the same time and venue.
