Lights switch on for the countdown to Christmas

Christmas lights will be switched in the area to kick off the festive season with a bang.

Rastrick Christmas lights will be turned on at Rastrick Parish Centre, at 6.30pm, Top O’ Town, on Friday, November 29.

Roger Davies will switch on the lights along with Emily Layden-Fritz, aged nine, from Rastrick Independant School, who won the Echo competition to design the Big Vocal 1 DVD cover. Her prize was to perform with Roger.

There will be carol singing by Rastrick residents and Roger will perform with them during “Rastrick Born and Raised”.

Lumalite will provide a Big Local sign, who also made many of the lighting exhibits for the closing ceremony at the London Olympics in 2012.

Bailiff Bridge switch on also takes place on November 29, at the Memorial Park with Peppa Pig and Kung Fu Panda.

There will also be a toast in memory of Trevor Lever.

Stalls will be available including refreshments and balloon making- Christmas music will be played and a raffle with prizes.

And The Time Travellers will perform in the Community Centre between 7pm to 11pm.

Hipperholme Christmas tree lights will be switched on at Hipperholme Crossroads on November 29, at 6pm.

Refreshments and carol singing will take place afterwards in Christ Church Hall.

And this year’s event is supported by Churches Together in Hipperholme and District.
