TEAMS are wanted for the Rastrick Big Local It’s A Knockout competition that will be held at Rastrick Cricket Club on Saturday, August 17.
Around a year ago, Rastrick was awarded through Lottery funding £1 million and Rastrick Big Local was formed to manage where this funding will go.
Jason Middleton, chairman of Rastrick Big Local, said:
“This is something that is controlled by the people of Rastrick - the council do not have any control.”
Through this, local companies have become involved and one of these is the NHS who want to establish themselves in the area.
The NHS have donated money for a community event and so it has been decided to put this towards an It’s A Knockout family day. It will start at 11am and teams are needed to take part. The event is free and all you have to do to qualify to take part in the event is to either live, work or have a business in Rastrick.
Teams are up to ten people, aged 14 and over, although there will also be a children’s It’s A Knockout competition.
There will be bouncy castles, go-karting, barbecues and much more.
Any local companies wanting to take a stall are welcome to come along and sell their goods to make money for their own organisation.
In the evening there will be an outside stage and people are encouraged to bring their picnic blankets and indulge in the barbecue, beer tent and ice creams while listening to music from local band Signed Anonymous followed by a Robbie Williams tribute
“It’s a complete family day and night out for the people of Rastrick and we hope they will come out and enjoy it,” said Jason. If you are interested in putting a team together or having a stall then contact Jason on 07768 367949 or Kath Lambert on 07805 508418.
