Dance fans will be turning the clock back to the heady days of Bill Haley and Jerry Lee Lewis at a rock and roll event at St John’s Church, Rastrick on Friday, March 14.
The event will raise much-needed funds to help refurbish the community hall’s kitchenand bring it up to 21st century standards.
The work will cost £22,000 and, thanks to previous fund-raising efforts, organisers are well on their way to reaching their target.
It will be the fifth dance event staged at St John’s and previous salsa and rock and roll dance nights have been a big success.
One of the organisers Julie Tum said: “The evening officially starts at 8pm but we have organised it for people who can’t jive or feel a little rusty when it comes to the various steps to come along at 7pm and receive tuition from two experienced instructors, Halyna and Jeremy, from Halifax.”
“An hour’s tuition should give people ample time to pick up the steps before the fun on the dance floor starts at 8pm.
“The evening is for a good cause so we are urging everyone to come along, turn the clock back and have a great time.”
Music will be provided by The Maverick and there will be a bar and refreshments. Admission is £4 on the door.
