All residents will be aware of the content of the Chancellor’s Budget announced in Westminster recently.
Like all budgets they do not always please everyone.
In all my time as a Councillor for the Hipperholme and Lightcliffe ward, over the last 14 years, I have never before received so many favourable comments from constituents who, irrespective of political persuasion, have spoken well of the budget.
This was delivered against a back drop of the massive deficit the current Government is working to reduce, which it inherited from the last Government.
It is pleasing to see the economy is now starting to turn as a result of the difficult but necessary decisions which have had to be taken since 2010.
As the economy continues to progress I am hopeful this will, over coming years, translate into more funding for key services and an improved living standard for all.
