With just four months to go until the Tour de France passes through Calderdale, Brighouse singer songwriter Roger Davies has released his limited edition single ‘The Grand Depart’.
The CD single featuring the band The Durbervilles is available to buy at any of the West Yorkshire Forget-Me-Not Trust shops in West Yorkshire and all proceeds from sales at these outlets will be donated to the hospice.
There will be the chance to hear Roger performing the special song at a number of forthcoming concerts including The Greystones, Sheffield on Wednesday, March 26 and Square Chapel arts centre, Halifax, on Saturday, March 29.
The single is also on sale at Square Chapel at £2 with proceeds going to the venue’s Cornerstone fund.
The Square Chapel gig will also mark the re-release of Roger’s two previous albums ‘Northern Trash’ and ‘The Busker’ in one special edition double CD package.
Roger said: “I wanted to capture the sense of excitement and anticipation that is already surrounding the Tour de France. I recorded ‘The Grand Depart’ with the versatile band The Durbervilles who supply driving electric guitar riffs and rich accordion accompaniment.
“It’s not every day a global event like the Tour de France passes through your own backyard so I wanted to make a positive contribution in the form of a celebratory song.”
The Square Chapel gig is at 7.30pm for an 8pm start and tickets are available on 01422 349422.
