A WEEKEND of events to celebrate the community of Rastrick proved to be very successful, according to organisers.
Entitled “Celebrate Rastrick Together”, the event at the new Technology Centre at Rastrick High School was well attended and involved exhibitions and activities by not only church groups but also by a range of secular organisations.
On Sunday all the churches, cancelled their main services and held a Celebration service led by the Rev Matthew Pollard, Vicar of St Matthew’s and St John’s in Rastrick, and Lee Reddyhoff, minister in training at Upper Edge Baptist Church.
Around 250 people attended, including Calder Valley MP Councillor Craig Whittaker and the Mayor and Mayoress of Calderdale, Councillor Keith Watson and his wife, Eileen.
The event was organised by the Rastrick Group of Churches and its chairman, John Mothersdale who said it was another successful event. “I don’t think we had quite as many people as we had last time but there was a good mix of exhibitions and activities for people.”
