Hoofers dance the day away - all in a good cause

Dancers from all over Yorkshire will take to the floor at the Ritz Ballroom, Brighouse, on Remembrance Sunday to raise money for injured heroes.

It will be the third 12 hour dancethon at the Ritz, organised by Sheila Kearns. Last year’s event raised almost £20,000 for Help 4 Heroes.

Sheila said: “It is a fantastic event and seems to have captured everyone’s imagination.

“It starts at 11am with two minutes’ silence and the Last Post, which is incredibly moving, then it’s onto a bit of community singing and 12 hours of non-stop dancing.

“The dancers are coming from Manchester, Leeds, York, Huddersfield and, of course, Brighouse and they will all be dressed up and look wonderful. Alan Olbison is decorating the Ritz with flags and bunting.”

Seven DJs are donating their services to spin the discs in shifts and all the money raised will go the Phoenix rehabilitation centre in Catterick, built by Help 4 Heroes.

Anyone is welcome to attend the dancethon, either to take part or to watch.

Tickets are £10. For more information contact 01484 720058.
