Brendan Cole and Ola Jordan may not have been there but more than 100 participants at a dance event in Brighouse had plenty of ‘Strictly style’.

Strictly Dance Beat was organised by the Yorkshire region of the Keep Fit Association at Brighouse Civic Hall.

Members from Halifax, Bradford and Huddersfield attended as well as from further afield , Sheffield, Wakefield and the north-east.

Stephanie Cooper of Brighouse said: “We had three great dance style workouts during a very well-organised day. Frances Jones, the vice chair of the Yorkshire region, deserves a special mention for helping to organise an event which everyone enjoyed and participated in at their own level as we have a wide range of ages and abilities. The samba style was particularly invigorating!”

The afternoon displays showcased a range of styles danced by members.

The day got underway with a workout led by Brighouse keep fit teacher Doreen Lever.

Sheffield teacher Michelle Staves and Lin Mills from the north-west region also led classes.

There were a variety of performances by local and regional teams and guest items which include Oscar’s children’s stage school.

The afternoon ended with a performance by Christine Tingle of her winning solo from the National Championships held earlier this year.
