Phil Ward at the Red Rooster is settling in to his new venture and has established a social calendar of events.

There is now a quiz every Wednesday from 9.30pm with a cash jackpot.
Coming up on August 11 there is a wine tasting night, priced at £7.50 per person.
Then on Thursday, August 25 it’s the monthly all you can eat curry night including a bottle of beer for the men and a glass of wine for ladies at £8 per person.
A new open mic night will be on every second Saturday of the month starting at 7.30pm and on the last Saturday of every month there will be live music from 9pm.
Phil has also started a Golf Society, and it is open to all no matter what handicap and there has been plenty of interest all ready!
All the hand pulled real ale pumps are being refurbished and by the weekend it should have a whole new group of real ales for sale.

The White Gate Inn

Just stretching the boundary, the White Gate Inn, just below Whitley’s Garden Centre off the Hartshead Moor village, has re-opened after a refurb and change of hands.
The chain pub has now been bought by Old Mill Brewery of Snaith, East Yorkshire.

Jeremy’s

This Friday night at Jeremy’s, Rachel Bray will welcome the popular International Party Doctors from 9.30pm, followed on Friday night by Bad Asteroids. On Sunday afternoon from 4pm there will be an acoustic set from Nathaniel Lodge.

Miller and Carter Steakhouse

The Miller and Carter Steakhouse, formerly The Three Nuns, just over the Brighouse border at Battyeford, Mirfield, now have their Christmas Menu available and are taking bookings.

After you have put the sun cream away, if you dine at the popular venue and book before October 31, you can also enjoy a glass of prosecco.

The Four Sons

Last Thursday I had plans to meet some family for a bite to eat and we arranged to meet at the Four Sons Inn, formally The Clough House at Rastrick.

But the place was packed and as much as host Maggie Starkey wanted to accommodate us, there was no room at the inn!

Lesson learnt, we will book next time and look forward to sampling the delights.

Millers Bar

This Saturday at Millers Bar, they are hosting a Beer Festival from 12 noon and will include 10 real ales plus ciders and live music.
