Rob Wilde at The Dusty Miller, Hove Edge, has informed me that their kitchen is currently under refurbishment and they hope to be serving meals within the next fortnight.

“We have already appointed a chef and we plan to serve on lunch times and in an evening. It will be traditional good quality pub food that wont break the bank and we will do deals like two meals for £10,” said Rob.

Tonight at The Barge, on Mill Lane, they have Ant MacAndrew, followed on Friday by The Hammertones, while on. Saturday The Void will take to the stage and the live music will be wrapped up Sunday evening with The Moonlight Trio.

This Sunday, at The Railway and Commercial Inn, Jiving Jeff will be holding his monthly rock and roll afternoon from 2pm until 5pm.

Chef and landlord Karl Rowley at The Shepherds Arms, Cowcliffe, now has steak night every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with two steak meals and a bottle of wine for £30.

There is also a brand new lunch and evening menu that will start on Monday, October 5.

The Christmas menus are available at the pub and they are taking bookings, but Christmas Day is already booked up. They do have spaces on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.

Austin Wylie and Trevor Simpkins at The Wappy Springs are running steak and fish nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays, with two steaks or two fish dishes or one of each for £25 including a Bottle of Echo Falls Wine.

They also have an early bird menu with two small courses starting at £8.95 per person.

The pub’s Christmas menu is also available and they are taking bookings.

The Duke of York at Shelf has a DJ this Friday night for you to start the weekend.

They have also introduced some Autumn Seasonal dishes on their specials board which includes a chicken and vegetable broth, Lamb Hotpot and a apple and caramel crumble.

Look out for advertising within the next couple of weeks for the massive Halloween party plus physic night.

The Holiday Inn at Clifton has got a deal on that will fill you up but not empty your pockets.

A three course Sunday lunch in their Junction restaurant at just £9.99 per person with kids under 12 dinning for free.

You can enjoy a soup or salad starter followed by roast beef and Yorkshire pudding plus three other hot meal choices that includes a fish and vegetarian option. All are served with a choice of potatoes and seasonal vegetables. To finish there is a choice of tempting desserts.

From October 16 to November 1 the Richard Oastler on Bethel Street will be taking part in the World’s biggest real ale festival as part of the JD Wetherspoon group.

There will be up to 50 ales from around the UK and the rest of the world that will be passing through the pumps.

There will be offers of Festival ale with food, and they are also offering for the price of a festival pint, the chance to enjoy three ales in a 1/3 pint glass.
